Thought I’d share this cool graphic. It shows the progression of “rock music” since the 60’s and shows the time line where genres cross and splinter off… all in the form of a metro railway. It’s interesting to see what bands are considered the “original” creators of sub-genres. Sonic Youth, The Beatles, The Who, Deep Purple. Also funny to see that a lot of the “alternative” and “emo” bands over the past 15 years, or so, don’t really have starting points. They sorta just meld and and appear like mutts.
